Rethabile Melamu (Ms)
B.Sc. ENG (Chemical), UCT; MSc. ENG (Chemical), UCT
I hail from the mountainous Kingdom of Lesotho. I began my academic journey in 2001, which culminated into a B.Sc. degree in Chemical Engineering in 2005 and in June 2008 I completed an M.Sc. degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Cape Town. My thesis explored environmental implications of transferring an emerging bioenergy technology that utilises sugar streams to produce hydrogen, its environmental merit was investigated through a comparative Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) with maize produced ethanol.
I joined the Environmental & Process System Engineering Group (E&PSE) at UCT as a Research Officer in 2008. I have taught some modules in 2 undergraduate courses and 1 postgraduate course. I have also co-supervised 2 Chemical Engineering honours projects in Chemical Engineering.
2008-present Research Officer, University of Cape Town
2006-2008 Research Assistant, University of Cape Town
2006-2008 Teaching assistant
